Salisbury Cathedral – Brahms: Requiem March 25th

Salisbury Musical Society presents this captivating Centenary Concert featuring Brahms’ Requiem.

SMS, accompanied by the Chelsea Opera Group Orchestra, perform one of the most significant choral pieces of the 19th Century, conducted by David Halls, Director of Music at Salisbury Cathedral. The concert will open with a specially commissioned piece by David Halls, celebrating Salisbury Musical Society’s Centenary Season.

David Halls: The Beauty of Holiness

This piece was commissioned especially for this SMS Centenary Concert, setting words from Psalm 96. Sung by Salisbury Musical Society and accompanied by Chelsea Opera Group Orchestra.

Johannes Brahms: Academic Festival Overture

An orchestral overture composed by Brahms in 1880 for the University of Breslau.

Johannes Brahms: Ein Deutsches Requiem (A German Requiem)

Completed in 1868, this is a large work for chorus, orchestra and two soloists, setting texts from the Scriptures in German.
