Private and exclusive fishing on the Hampshire Avon

When you stay in one of our Fordingbridge properties, ie. Criddlestyle Cottage, Mews Hill or the Riverside Lodge you have the option of fishing on 80 yards of exclusive fishing. This is only 100 yards away from the properties! There are 4 good swims that are great for speciman course fishing. The fishing is only available if you stay in one of these properties and if you stay at the Riverside Lodge you have fishing included in the rental. This is one swim and fishing in the small lake it sits upon and you can even fish from the verandah!

Sandy Balls Holiday Centre, Godshill, Hampshire Avon

Right next to the exclusive private stretch of river is a 1/2 mile of a single bank stretch. This is within the Sandy Balls Holiday Centre. There are several excellent swims and timber platforms have been created. The tickets are available at the cycle centre at Sandy Balls, Tel: 01425 657707, which is open daily from 9am – 5pm. You are allowed to fish from one hour before sunrise until 10pm.

Fordingbridge Recreation Ground, Hampshire Avon

Fordingbridge Recreation Ground is opposite the George Inn. It is common to see fly fishermen wading midstream taking advantage of this 500-yard stretch of the Hampshire Avon when you cross the bridge. Tickets are £5 per day and are available at Fordingbridge Tourist Information Centre Tel: 01425 654560 or the Riverside Kiosk.

Just on the doorstep of our Christchurch properties fishing charters are available on Christchurch Quay for fishing in the harbour or out to sea. This is part of the Christchurch Angling Club so if you take up their membership you can enjoy this great fishing spot.

South Farm is owned by Short Stay Homes and it’s fishing lakes are naturally spring fed and stock hard fighting Carp in excess of 20 lbs, Chub in excess of 6 lbs plus specimen Roach, Tench, Silver Bream, Crucian Carp and Perch all in prime condition. The setting is tranquil within beautiful surroundings and all of the self catering cottages are close to Home lake, Lake cottage 30m, Carp Lodge 50m, Oaktree 70m, Coshes garden 80m, Cinders cottage 90m, Stables cottage 95m and the Farm house is 50 meters add about 250 meters to get to Lower Ram lake. Dogs are welcome and fishing is free to all South Farm guests.
