A real ‘find’.

Just returned from a five day golf tour in Dorset, a large group of us
playing some brilliant courses in the area including my favourites,
Parkstone and Broadstone.

However the real “find” on the trip was the accommodation we enjoyed
in Christchurch at the recently refurbished “Quay House”
Situated right next to the Priory, a large 6 bedroom period Georgian
house couldn’t have been better located, three minutes stroll into the
town centre in one direction and in other direction, just a short
stroll from the peaceful and picturesque waterside area, a beautiful
setting and home to all manner of small boats and birdlife. We were
blessed with good weather which meant an evening stroll along the
river bank was a real pleasure before sampling the catering delights
that this delightful town has to offer. Special mention for the super
dinner at the Kings Arms Hotel and a great meal at the Boathouse
Restaurant overlooking the river. Quality of food and service in both
locations was great.

In our group I was allocated the ground floor bedroom, next to the
disabled cloakroom and wet room which effectively provided an
excellent “en-suite”. The kitchen had all new modern appliances (loved
the iced water outlet in the fridge) as part of a kitchen/ diner set
up that comfortably seated our large group at one table for our
breakfasts and the two “meals in” with the added benefit of a cook –
Shaw Catering. A huge TV screen in the lounge surrounded by very
comfortable sofas and tasteful soft furnishings all added to the evening
enjoyment for our group reflecting on the golfing challenges of the day over
a glass or two of vino.

Downsides? Well parking is a bit restricted but 4 cars can be securely
parked behind electronic gates and there is otherwise roadside parking
outside in Quay for which we were provided 24 hour parking permits. A
very quiet road by the house but once out of the town, traffic was a bit
heavy but only what would be expected for an area like this at the times we
were travelling (local rush hour).

The only other downside was the general standard of my golf, but I guess
that makes it a very good reason to go back and have another go.
Super courses and perfect location – will definitely go back!
