New Forest named the number 1 national park in Europe!

The New Forest National Park has been named the number one National Park in Europe, as well as the tenth best National Park in the world!

According to the 2022 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards for Destinations, the New Forest ranked highest in Europe based on the American online travel company’s customer reviews over the past 12 months. It’s 10th place ranking in the global category beat out many incredibly famous parks, such as the Grand Canyon National Park in the United States and Iceland’s Vatnajokull National Park.

We are proud to provide holiday homes to people further afield who want to experience a special holiday and to explore this fantastic national park, and we’ve compiled the top reasons why we think the New Forest is so special. Read on below!

Trekking outdoors

Across over 200 square miles, the New Forest is home to over 140 miles of walking, cycling and bridle paths. Whether you are looking for a light stroll with the whole family, a challenging pedal on some challenging terrain or a calm canter across the open heath, there is something for all abilities to enjoy the great outdoors and beautiful countryside. Take a look below at the recommended routes, as well as horse riding activities to take part in during your stay on the New Forest website!

Relaxing by the seaside

As well as beautiful heathland and many miles of forest trails, the New Forest also hosts beautiful beaches. There are a total of eight New Forest beaches that attract people regardless of the season.

Barton-on-Sea offers a short, shingle, rock beach is backed by high, clay cliffs, while Lepe offers stunning views of the Isle of Wight and plenty of opportunities for bird watching

Lovely beaches can also be found in Calshot, Hengistbury Head, Keyhaven and Milford-on-Sea, and not far along the coast are the award winning Bournemouth beaches and Sandbanks in Poole.

Up close with wildlife

Being a National Park, the New Forest is packed with diverse habitats, welcoming many kinds of wildlife within its boundaries. Much of the park has been awarded Special Area of Conservation status due to how rich in wildlife it is, with New Forest wildlife finding its home within the hundreds of miles of bogs, woodlands and open heathland.

With such a variety of species to spot, from rare birds, to deer and the world famous New Forest ponies, the New Forest is a haven for wildlife lovers, and its animals are undoubtedly one of the National Park’s main attractions.
