Beaulieu. This riverside estate packs a lot into one ticket: the National Motor Museum and its 280-plus vehicles, the 13th-century Beaulieu Abbey ruins, Palace House, and the Little Beaulieu play area with its treetop boardwalk and zip wire. A brilliant all-weather option if the forecast wobbles.
Exbury Gardens. More than 200 acres of woodland walks and floral displays, plus a much-loved miniature steam railway and an adventure play area built from fallen trees. Gentle and lovely for all ages.
